Alderman Anthony Quezada is a lifelong Chicagoan, community organizer, and dedicated public servant.
Anthony Quezada is the proud son of working-class immigrant parents and was raised in Logan Square. Growing up, his family struggled to make ends meet, and he witnessed firsthand the impacts of poverty and housing displacement in our neighborhoods. Those experiences shaped his understanding of the challenges working people face and inspired his commitment to community organizing and public service.
Before entering elected office, Anthony worked in low-wage restaurant jobs and later served as the 35th Ward Neighborhood Services Director for former Alderman Carlos Ramirez-Rosa for more than six years.
As a community organizer, Anthony helped lead efforts to build affordable housing, defend immigrant families facing deportation, and support residents during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2020, Anthony was elected 35th Ward Democratic Committeeperson and became the chair of the party’s first Policy Committee, where he championed an elected school board and healthcare as a human right. In 2022, he was elected Cook County Commissioner for the 8th District. During his two and a half years in office, he passed legislation expanding paid leave protections, secured funding for a new dental clinic at Cook County’s Belmont Cragin Health Center, and helped thousands of homeowners obtain property tax relief.
In April 2025, Anthony was appointed Alderman of the 35th Ward following a community vetting process. Since taking office, he has passed legislation to strengthen tenant protections, secured millions in public funding to expand affordable housing in the 35th Ward, defended our communities from ICE, provided property tax relief, and worked to ensure the wealthiest individuals and corporations contribute more toward the public services that Chicagoans rely on.
Anthony has delivered results for working families. Since being appointed in April 2025, he has been working to make the 35th Ward more affordable, more protected, and more just for everyone who calls it home.
Building Affordable Housing and Protecting Tenants
Secured Low-Income Housing Tax Credits and city funding to support the development of up to 96 units of 100% affordable housing at 2525 N. Kedzie in the heart of Logan Square.
Approved the creation of 118 new homes in the 35th Ward, including 21 affordable units through the Affordable Requirements Ordinance. As a member of the City Council Committee on Zoning, Landmarks, and Building Standards, Anthony has voted to approve hundreds of new housing units across Chicago.
Opted the 35th Ward to be included in the city’s expanded Additional Dwelling Unit (ADU) Ordinance, helping create new, lower-cost rental housing options.
Introduced and passed an amendment to Chicago’s Fair Notice Ordinance to prevent eviction filings after a landlord failed to issue proper notice of lease non-renewal.
Protecting Our Immigrant Neighbors
Worked with area progressive elected officials, community organizations, and residents to build and support the Northwest Side Rapid Response Network, a coalition that educates residents about their constitutional rights, responds to reports of ICE activity, and connects families with legal assistance and support services.
Co-sponsored and passed an ordinance authorizing the Civilian Office of Police Accountability to investigate allegations of collaboration between the Chicago Police Department and ICE.
Community and Economic Development
Secured $5 million in Tax Increment Financing (TIF) funding for major improvements at Avondale Park, including a new roof, new windows, and accessibility upgrades to the fieldhouse.
Secured $3 million in Community Development Grant funding to redevelop the long-vacant Grace’s Furniture building into the Logan Square Athletic Club, bringing new investment and economic activity to the neighborhood.
Achieved zero traffic fatalities in the 35th Ward in 2025 following strategic investments in pedestrian, cyclist, and motorist safety improvements, including pedestrian plazas, protected bike lanes, and roadway safety upgrades.

While billionaires and corporations continue to get richer, working families are being squeezed by rising costs and stagnant wages.
Alderman Quezada will continue fighting for a fairer economy by making the wealthiest corporations and individuals pay their fair share of taxes so we can invest in affordable housing, public schools, parks, public health, and reliable public transportation.
Too many of our neighbors are one rent hike or property tax increase away from displacement, while others are already experiencing homelessness.
Alderman Quezada believes housing is a human right. He will continue working to build and preserve affordable housing, prevent displacement, and keep longtime residents in their communities. He will defend the Northwest Side Housing Preservation Ordinance to stop the demolition and deconversion of 2-, 3-, and 4-flat buildings. He will support equitable transit-oriented development that creates more affordable homes near public transit and will advocate for increased funding for non-congregate shelters and permanent supportive housing for people experiencing homelessness.
Our immigrant families are facing fear and uncertainty as ICE continues aggressive enforcement actions in our communities.
Alderman Quezada is committed to expanding rapid response networks across the 35th Ward and throughout Chicago, strengthening and defending the Welcoming City Ordinance, and organizing to build the movement needed to abolish and prosecute ICE.
